
Nepal is one of the developing countries having poor economic status of the people, lack of education, poor allocation of resources, limited technical manpower, low level of awareness and knowledge about health. In Nepal health services are basically provided by hospitals and other healthcare providing centers. They can be operated publicly, privately, co-operative or through NGO’s or INGO’s in the sector of providing preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative healthcare.
In 2000 AD., with the aim of production of quality manpower in addressing the need of management in heath, National Open College situated in Sanepa, Lalitpur introduced the course of Bachelor in Healthcare management, under Pokhara University. The course was introduced as a three years program and later converted to four years. The college also runs Masters Degree in health care management (MHCM) and Post graduate diploma in health care management (PGDHCM) program.
